The application period to World Reggae Contest was closed. “Feedback to our contest was really overwhelming, it is a really nice surprise for us. It just confirms that reggae is a global culture.  We are happy that artists see the potential of the contest and the fact they all want to come to Ostroda” – says Piotr “Piter” Kolaj of Positive Music Promotion, the promoter of Ostróda Reggae Festival in Poland, one of key reggae events in Poland celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.

In total 102 artists from all around the world applied to the Contest: 12 from Jamaica, 11 from Poland, 9 from USA, 7 from UK, 6 from Brazil, 5 from Italy, 4 from France and Germany, 2 from Hungary, Bulgaria, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, Kenya, Mexico, Russia and Spain. Single applications arrived from Belgium, Bolivia, Dominica, Gambia, Ghana, Israel, Macedonia, New Caledonia, Panama, Greece, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Suriname, Sweden, The Netherlands, Ukraine and Virgin Islands. There are also 7 multinational projects.

Till May 10th the Festival promoters will select 10 best artists in their opinion to expose them to public voting through a dedicated FB application. The fans will chose 5 finalists to perform at the main Red Stage of the Festival on Aug 8th before Gentleman & The Evolution. International jury will decide on a winner, to receive valuable awards including free recording session at Harry J Studio in Kingston, the partner of the Contest.
